Year 6 2022 - 2023

Miss Hickson

At the heart of everything is a personalised approach to each unique individual as part of our Christian Community. The strong family ethos ensures that all children and staff feel valued, respected and grow in self-confidence. Enthusiastic and caring staff with high expectations, demonstrate care of the whole child. Through God’s guidance we encourage each and every child to 'let their light shine'.

Welcome to Year 6!

Miss Hickson and Mrs Walker are your teachers in Year 6.

We welcome you to your final year at Bunbury Aldersey CE Primary School. Whilst we have lots of fun and enjoy our learning, we will also expect you to work hard and try your best. We expect high standards of work and presentation but are always available should you need to ask about anything.

From The Galapagos to Antarctica!

“It is not the strongest of the species that survives, nor the most intelligent that survives. It is the one that is most adaptable to change.”

Charles Darwin

Our topic for this term is based on the whole school book ‘Lots’ by Marc Martin. It is a beautifully illustrated celebration of the world we travel far and wide; lots of people, lots of places, lots of different landscapes and cultures.

In Year 6, we are going to focus on the journeys of Charles Darwin and Sir Earnest Shackleton to the Galapagos Islands and Antarctica respectively and the animals and landscape they encounter on their travels.

Our autumn term topic web below provides an overview of what we will be learning across all areas of the curriculum.

We ask that you wear your PE kit to school on your PE days: Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

I am looking forward to making your final year at Bunbury an exciting and unforgettable one!

Miss Hickson

Our Class Charter

As a rights respecting school, one of the first activities completed in September is our Class Charter. The children choose a number of articles which they feel must be met at school. It is then discussed how the adults (duty bearers) and the pupils (rights holders) in school ensure that these rights are met. Have a look at our class charter below.
