Year 4 week beginning 7.9.15

Dear all

We have had a lovely 2 days with our new class. Their behaviour has been exemplary and their love of learning is very evident. Long may this continue! The children have spent the last 2 days responding to The Creation and a variety of quotes from the Bible. They have done this through discussion, P4C (philosophy for children) and art work. We have been very impressed with their very mature thoughts and ideas.

Next week we will be continuing with The Creation and looking at how other religions tell this story. This leads us gently into our Maya project as they also had a story of how the world began. Once our paintings are completed we will post them onto the blog and they will also be displayed on the board outside the school office.

Maths will begin with looking at number bonds to 10, 20, and 100 and strategies to find what needs to be added to 46 to make 100 using a 100 square, and how to subtract by finding the difference. 

English will see some recount writing and also rewriting the Mayan creation story, ready to make our own codices.

Our Meet The Teachers meeting is on Monday14th September, time to be confirmed where hopefully we will be able to tell you a little bit about ourselves and how we teach. We will give you a general overview of the terms work and trips that have been organised. PE will be on Monday and Thursday with the exception of next week when it will be on Wednesday and Thursday.
