Year 4 week beginning 27.2.17

Date: 26th Feb 2017 @ 9:51am

Hello Year 4

I really hope you have enjoyed a lovely half term and were not blown away in Storm Doris! I spent the whole week in Cornwall walking the coastal paths, some days in t-shirts. I cannot believe how beautiful it was and will certainly go back again. We arrived home to find our old apple tree down and the fence, slates that had blown off the roof, the winds must have been tremendous.

We will beginning our whole school project "The Sea of Dreams" on Monday with an art morning, looking at sea scapes. We will be working together with Y3 although you will be doing your own pieces of art work. The school will be transformed into a coastal place and will exhibit the Arts from every class whilst retelling the story. This book has no words which I love as we have freedom to write what we can see and everybody sees things differently. You will be able to go to town with your fronted adverbials, extended noun phrases, story and poetry writing and a non chronological report on sea creatures. Any seaside items you may have will be greatly received and looked after during the time of the art exhibition.

Maths will continue with the concept of time, we will be looking at the 12 and 24 hour clock and both analogue and digital clocks. using this information we will solve time problems using timetables, we could look at tide timetables which would link very nicely with our topic.

On Friday it is World Book Day at Bunbury School. The theme will be the seaside, maybe too cold for bikinis and trunks but how about a mermaid, stripes and spots, crab, fish, pirate etc. Have a think and lets see who can be very creative.

Enjoy the last day of your holidays, I need to go and pull branches to a fire pit at the end of the garden!

See you tomorrow.
