Year 3 Week Beginning 18/4/16

Date: 17th Apr 2016 @ 5:40pm

Hello everyone,

I hope you have all had a lovely Spring break. What have you all been up to? I am sure lots of you have put the new playground to use with this glorious weather! I have had a lovely time back home in Liverpool, catching up with friends and family. We have a VERY busy week ahead of us...

This week in Maths we will be looking at perpendicular and parallel lines. We will be identifying them in the world around us and in 2D shapes. Later on in the week we will be looking at turns. How many degrees are in a half turn, quarter turn, three quarter turn? We will be doing some art work along side this maths topic aswell.

In English we are going to be looking at newspaer reports. We will be reporting on our trip to Beeston Castle. We have another deadline for the Bunbury Link! We will recap the features, recap direct speech using kungfu and focusing on writing in paragraphs. This is a target for you all this term.

On Tuesday we are going on our trip to Beeston Castle. I have some exciting news about this trip to share with you tomorrow! Here are some reminders about the trip:

  • On Tuesday you need to come to school wearing suitable clothing and footwear. We ask that you wear your school jumper - this makes it easy for us to spot you!
  • You also need to bring a packed lunch in a backpack. This is so your hands are free to walk sensibly and look for treasure.
  • Finally, I ask that you check the weather on Monday night/Tuesday morning. If it is meant to rain pack a waterproof and if it is like today you will need a sun hat. We will be outside all day whatever the weather!
  • We will be leaving school at 9.45am and returning for around 2pm.

At the end of the week it is the Queens 90th birthday celebrations. Mrs Potter is organising a party in the village hall on Saturday and she would like us all to design a birthday card to commemorate this occasion. Get your thinking hats on - what will your card look like? I have some ideas to get you started but I would like you to add your own creative, unique touches too! There will be prizes for the best entrants from each class. Bunbury will be having their own party to celebrate her birthday on Friday. Please come dressed in red, white and blue and a crown or a hat!

X-Country is next Thursday 28th at the High School 4pm-5pm. EVERYONE is welcome, it would be lovely to have the whole class competing in this great event. Can we keep are reigning title of the highest class percentage?!

Looking forward to seeing you all tomorrow.

Miss Cork

P.S if you have been colletcing butter tubs and yoghurt pots please bring them into school ASAP! Thank you.
