Year 3 week beginning 16/1/17

Date: 15th Jan 2017 @ 6:46pm

Good evening all,

I was very proud of you all last week when we spent time looking at article 22 on the right to safety and special protection of refugees.Your comments were both thoughtful and mature. I think we all came away feeling so very lucky with our lives and an aim to perhaps not moan so much when we don't get what we want. The work you produced is fantastic and will be kept in our class book. Mrs Waddington and I will also be displaying your joint work with Y4 around the school.

In English we will begin our work on the text "The Dragon Machine" by Helen Ward. This is a lovely book (a modern version of St George and the Dragon) and I know you will really enjoy it.  We will be recapping using noun phrases and prepositions in our writing. I am expecting you to think really careful about the words you pick. Is is the best possible word? Can I uplevel it? You will then be writing a character and setting description using paragraphs.

In maths we will be looking at written methods for multiplication (multiplying a 2 digit number by a 1 digit number).  We will begin the week by using numicon to help us understand what the question is asking and to support our working out. Later in thr week you will be challenged with some 'convince me' questions.

Our RE this term is focuses is on 'The Kingdom of God' and our key concept question is 'What do Jesus' parables tell Christians the Kingdom of God is like?' On Wednesday we will be looking at the Parable of the Sower and the Seed.

On Thursday we will start our new Science topic which looks at animal and human bones. I know you are going to love this topic!

I hope you all had a lovely weekend and managed to get some rest.

See you in the morning.
