Year 1 w/b 18.04.16 Happy Bithday Your Majesty!
Date: 24th Apr 2016 @ 9:05am
Welcome back after what I am sure was a lovely Spring break! Sounds like the children had a fantastic time from flying down ski slopes to exploring the new playground!
This week we Focussed on the Queen's birhtday celebrations through the book 'The Queen's Handbag'. It is such a fantastic and detailed book we are continuing it for a few days next week! A crafty swan steals the handbag and flies over all the important landmarks of the UK!
We have had lots of fun this week making symmetrical crowns using 2d shapes, designing a new handbag for the Queen, making zigzag timelines and learning about the 4 countries that make up the United Kingdom. Have a look at some of our pictures!
This fastastic week had a brilliant finale with the Queen's Tea Party. All the hats look amazing and it was quite emotional seeing all the children in red, white and blue singing the national anthem.
Next week we are continuing with the Queen's hat for a few days before embarking on own new topic... Rumble Roar Dinosaur! We are also introducing fractions so this will be available on Mathletics!
Show and Tell
As this a popular topic I envisage lots of exciting things are going to be brought into school. To ensure all children get enough time to show I have divised a timetable. Show and Tell is on a Thursday and is about our topics.
28.04.16- RED team
05.05.16- GREEN team
12.05.16- BLUE team
19.05.16- YELLOW.

We have something special happening in year 1 in the last week before half term so expect an invitiation from the class!
Many Thanks for everything!
