Y6 week beginning 5 10 15

Hello everyone!

Well, what a busy week it was last week and we were all so proud of how you behaved with our visitors to school.

In number this week we have been looking at how the placement of brackets affects a calculation:
eg (4+8)x6=72
whereas 4+(8x6)=52

And also simple algebra:
If axbx3=18
and a-b=5
then what is the value of a and b? In Measure we have been converting between miles and kms.

You began some good character sketches based on Raymond Briggs' "Ug" and don't forget to bring in any books you may have written by him.

Final challenge...how long does it take you to write out the answers to the 7, 8 and 9 times tables? Post your answers on this blog for teampoints for your team!
