Y6 week beginning 11 1 16

Well, hello everyone and we hope you have had a good weekend and are enjoying the dry weather and getting outside to play today!

You all made a great start last week and I know that in particular you made Mrs Badger very welcome. She loved her day with you and was impressed with how hard you were working.

Your work on children's rights was wonderful and your took it all so seriously and produced some excellent work. Your prayers were empathetic and thoughtful and I cant wait to see our hanging up in the entrance hall!

In Maths you looked at column addition with larger numbers and finding missing angles and identifying and classifying shapes. Don't forget that we asked you to make sure that you are up to date with all the Mathletics homework that has been set for you so that we can start afresh this week.

I was also impressed with your use of extended noun phrases and how you included those in your descripton of a city. Could it be New York, I wonder? You also sped up with the grammar game and I think Mrs Badger will be surprised when she sees how you have all improved!

This week we shall continue with our work on King Kong and will read a little more of the story. We shall be planning and writing a poem at the end of the week!

Mrs Spencer will be in on Tuesday to work with you and I know she is really looking forward to being with you and getting to know you better. In fact, I think she may pop in during Monday too to have a little look at how you work together etc. She will do Maths with you in the morning and then start the new Science topic on 'Electricity' with you.

Don't forget your Takeaway homework which you should be doing a little of each week. Also reading should be happening EVERY night. Fill in your reading records and earn some team points!
