Y6 week beg 25 1 16

Date: 24th Jan 2016 @ 4:04pm

Hello all!

Well, we had another busy week last week and we were pleased with your efforts.

During the maths lessons, we took part in a short maths test to inform our next steps, looked at how to find common factors of numbers, converted units of measure in length, capacity and mass and applied this to one and two step problems. We practised converting km to miles and miles to km. We estimated then measured the mass of common objects. We also reviewed our work on long mulitplication, exploring and explaining how the standard written algorthim works and why we follow certain steps to calculate an answer. During the lesson we practised this skill before applying it to SAT style questions. We also investigated Roman numerals through a series of cooperative games and drew and measured polygons using protractors and rulers.

In English we continued with our SPAG work and had a chance to plan and write an extended narrative. We also took part in a Reading test to further inform our next steps in the forthcoming weeks.

You all completed your informative tourist guides to New York and they are looking really eye-catching and professional. In Art we began our work on Andy Warhol and we will continue with this this week.

Please make sure you have your PE kit in every day in school as I have noticed that you don't always all have a full kit with you.

Make sure that you are getting on with your Takeaway homework as there is a lot to do before the 10th February when we get to share our work.

Have a good couple of days and I'll see you on Wednesday.

Love MrC, Mrs B and Mrs S
