Y4week beginning 3.5.16

Date: 2nd May 2016 @ 9:40am

Hello everyone

I hope you have all enjoyed this extended weekend. If you are going to the Beeston Fete, enjoy yourselves.

Although only short it is a busy and exciting week. Mr. Cole will be teaching 2 more lessons on word problems in maths before Mrs. Parsons reintroduces fractions and decimals later on in the week. Remember for both of these areas of maths, times tables knowledge is really important. Keep doing a bit of work on them each week or alternatively go onto Mathletics where we have selected some word problem activities.

You will be writing a spine poem based on The Water Horse using a poem by Pie Corbett called From his fetid lair as a stimulus. This will be the last piece of writing using The Water Horse before we start our new text One Boys War based on a true story of a young boy who signed up for WW1 and his experiences in the trenches.

Mr. Cole will be introducing the new topic WW1 starting with the countries that were involved and why and when it began. It's a fascinating subject and quite complicated but one that we know you will enjoy finding out facts from.

At the end of the week you will be continuing with sound and hearing, how sounds are made and how we hear them. In RE you will be continuing with our Pentecost work. Don't forget to add any thoughts to our Forgiveness display in the classroom.

We are so sorry that the X-Country was cancelled especially as so many of you had made the effort to get to the High School on Thursday. We hope that this will be rescheduled. This week is the turn of Y3 and Y4 hockey at Deeside Hockey Club. If you have been selected please bring in your slip on Tuesday and keep your fingers crossed for good weather.

Enjoy your extra day and we look forward to seeing you all tomorrow.
