Y4 week beginning 7.3.16

Date: 5th Mar 2016 @ 4:52pm

Hello everyone

you all wrote such beautiful poetry on the world without any colour, edited and then redrafted them. You also made a cylinder or a hexagon based prism from a net to store your poem in. They all read and look fabulous and have been displayed by our spell poems. Thank you for working so hard on Friday, I know you were disappointed not to have your brass lesson but at least you had some time to make a Mothers Day card!

This week we will continue on multiplying and dividing by 10 and 100 and looking at what happens to each number. Can you remember the rules for X by 10 and 100 or the rules for dividing by the same numbers? What happens to the decimal point? What happens to 9 if I want to divide it by 100. Please go onto mathletics as I have set you some work on this subject.

Miss Mullins will continue with English this week using the text The Water Horse. You will get the chance to finish your information texts on the small creature that hatched before using the computers to input some pictures. This should make a great display in the corner of the classroom. You will then look at diary extracts before doing the next Big Write on diary writing..

The Tudor pouches are taking shape, some of you are ready to sew on tassels, buttons and other decorations before  putting in the draw string to close the pouch to stop the money from falling out. We are very impressed with your sewing skills. We also need to complete our lemon curd recipe books but that should not take too long. We are visiting Speke Hall next week (Tuesday 15th March) it's great to see evidence of all the things we have spoken about. Don't forget to bring a small orange with you, we will be making a pomander using this and some cloves just like the wealthy Tudors to ward off horrible smells of the time.

Please don't forget to be thinking about Takeaway homework for this half term. The sheet is on the class page on Y4 but I have some paper copies at school if you want one. We will have our celebration day on March 30th so get thinking and doing!

The last thing we need to be thinking about is to make a Lenten Box which can be as simple or complicated as you like as long as you can collect money inside through Lent. This will then be taken to church for our Easter Service on Thursday 24th March and all the money collected will be given to a charity.

Enjoy your weekend and don't forget to make a fuss of your mum on Sunday!

See you on Monday

Love Mrs. W, Mrs. P and Miss M

HOT OFF THE PRESS

James Roberts is our first winner of the gold mathletics certificate. Huge congratulations must go to him, please see the photograph of him with his certificate. I know there are a couple of others in Y4 who are hot on his heels!
