Y4 week beginning 5.10.15

Date: 4th Oct 2015 @ 1:03pm

Hi Y4

yet another lovely weekend, I went up to Scotland on Friday for a wedding, the scenery was absolutely beautiful. I could have written some very descriptive noun phrases!

This week we will be completing our time work with Mr. Cole, looking at changing analoque times to digital times. Remember we say them differently and also when we want to change a to time eg twenty to 4 to a digital time this can be quite challenging as there is no "to time" in digital we have to say how many minutes past the last hour twenty to 4 becomes 3.40 ie 40 minutes past 3. It is very complicated but you are all doing a good job.We will begin to add and subtract 3-digit numbers using column addition and subtraction.

To begin the next part of Leon we will watch a short clip from Oz the Great and Powerful and collect all the action words that can be seen (verbs). In groups we will take one image from the film and describe the the scene using the style of Graham Baker-Smith our featured author. Our SPAG focus will be on the use of conjunctions and verbs.

I think we will complete our masks on Wednesday, we only need to add the beads, feathers and wire piercings. They will look absolutely fabulous when finished. They will be displayed in both our classroom and corridor but we will take photos so that we can blog them.

The 2nd part of the science lesson where you are melting materials will take part on Friday, the class will be split into 2 for Health and safety reasons.

I hope your parents loved your Christmas card design that you took home on Friday. Please bring your orders back to school as soon as possible and certainly by Friday 9th October as the PTA need to send these off to be printed.

It is the frist KS2 X-country event on Thursday at the High School between 4pm-5pm. The races always begin with Y3 girls then Y3 boys etc. We have a mini competition in school to see which class has the highest percentage of competitors. It would be lovely to see as many Y4 running as possible. Anybody who would like to go but can't get a lift please let me know and I will try to arrange it for you.

Enjoy the sunshine for the last few hours.

Love Mrs. W and Mrs. S

PS if anyone has the DVD Oz the Great and the Powerful and you don't mind letting us borrow it to watch the first 30 seconds I would really appreciate it, the clip I have on Youtube is not very clear.
