Y4 week beginning 28.11.16

Date: 27th Nov 2016 @ 10:37am

Good morning, its been a cold weekend but hopefully the freezing temperatures have killed a lot of the bugs and germs floating around. Hopefully Max and Emmy are feeling better.

Congratulations to the Y4 Handball team champions of the Tarporley large schools cluster. It was lovely to see all your faces as it was announced. There are some pictures on the blog for everyone to see.

This week we are looking at reasoning and problem solving questions linked to multiplication. Remember its very important to explain what you have found out and why you think certain things happen in maths. Please keep up with Mathletics, I have added some problem solving questions for you to look at. Congratulations to Ella and Evie who have already received a silver certificate this week and to Ben Co who has achieved a bronze. I am hoping when I look tomorrow I will see some more. A huge congratulations to Ben Webster who was the first child of the year in our class to receive a gold certificate. Please keep this up, there are some lovely games that will help with your tables which we ALL need to practise!!

Miss Moores will begin a new 3 week cycle on Non Chronological report. You will begin tomorrow doing a cold task so that we can see what you already know. Please don't worry about it, at the end of the 3 weeks when you do a Big Write you will hopefully see the improvements you have made.

We will complete our recounts about the Synagogue, information books on facts we have found on Jewish life and customs and learning about Jewish clothing which symbolise respect for God.

Spelling lessons will continue this week in your groups, please complete your homework and use the rules you have learned in your own writing (easier said than done but we are beginning to see results!!)

You will be building your Mayan city this week using the facts you found last week in your research lesson. I am looking forward to seeing the results.

Mrs. Woodhouse will be teaching on Thursday and Friday and she will be continuing with english and maths as well as introducing electricity in Science.

Make sure you have your PE kit in school on Tuesday and Thursday please.

Friday is a day where you will be able to wear your own clothes BUT in exchange for an item for the Christmas Fair, more details to follow on what Y4 need to bring in. Please remember to bring in any clean and good quality teddies that you can bear to part with. The Ethos group introduced RRSA  (Rights Respecting School) in the Friday assembly where we learned what all children should have a right to eg The right to clean water, The right to play, The right to nutritious food. These are all rights that we just expect and receive but their are many people in the world and our country that don't. We are all so lucky but we need to think of others less fortunate than ourselves, so begin by sharing some of your teddies.

Thank you

Mrs. W, Mrs. C, Mrs W and Miss M
