Y4 week beginning 26.9.16

Date: 24th Sep 2016 @ 10:59am

Mrs. Chatfield and I had a quick look at the writing you produced during the Big Write, we were very pleased with what we saw. On Monday and Tuesday you will peer assess your own pieces of work in pairs and then you will peer write another piece of writing using the success criteria as a guide. On Wednesday you will write a poem using your extended noun phrases of what is inside the tent. Can you remember what you wrote on a post it and where you placed it in the defined space in the tent. We would like you to redraft, edit and present these poems for display in our circus tent. We will be taking your writing on Wednesday evening to St.Oswalds to do some moderation with the Y4 teacher there. This just helps us decide in a group what learning goals you have achieved and what your next steps are.

In maths we will be moving on to what each number represents in a 2,3 or 4 digit number and looking for patterns and sequences and also Roman Numerals how they are written from 1-100.You will be challenged with some problems and we will be looking for good explanations of what you found and why. This week should see the end of our place value topic before moving onto addition and subtraction next week.

Your Maya map work looks great and will be completed on Wednesday as well as making a start on your Mayan masks. Try and find out what the Maya thought was beautiful and try and incorporate this into your mask.

In RE we will be continuing with the theme of Good News and using another story that Jesus told The feeding of the 5000. How can we as Chrisitians continue with the good news? We will have some visitors in school on Thursday who will be looking at the teaching and learning of RE in school. They may want to talk to you and they will certainly be visiting our classroom and looking at our reflection and RE areas and books. You are all very thoughtful and we know you will be able to answer any questions they may ask you.

Some of you will be joining a choir trip on Thursday morning for the first joint session with other Nantwich schools on the Popera project. Don't forget to bring your permission slip to school if you haven't already done so.

Put the date of Thursday October 13th 4pm to 5 pm on Tarporley High Schools field in your diary as this is the first X-Counrty race for Y3 and Y4. Everyone is able to represent the school in this event and we would like to see all of you there. More details to follow.

Have a good weekend and try to reply to the blog so we know you have read it. Team points for all who do!

Love Mrs. W and Mrs. C
