Y4 week beginning 2.5.17

Date: 30th Apr 2017 @ 2:37pm

It is so lovely to have an extended weekend, I hope you are all making the most of it. I have gone for a very long walk in the Peak District and am now settling to do a bit of work. How is your takeaway homework coming along? Remember you decided on all the choices so there is something for everyone to choose.

This week we will be continuing with perimeter and angles in our maths work as well as teaching to all the gaps, the areas we can see after a short assessment needs a little more teaching. It is great for you all to see (and us as teachers) the areas that you need to practice and then the progress you make in the next assessment.

English will continue with our work on non chronological report writing using the new consistent plan and approach the whole school will now use. We will choose a sea creature to find out facts that can be included in the report before using an imaginary sea creature like a mermaid to do something similar. This will be really fun as we will be able to make up facts about food, habitat, appearance and a Wow fact.

Miss Moore introduced us to some geography work about the British Isles last week, you formed a map in pairs of what you thought they look like using Play Dough before putting together a jigsaw of the map and then making slight adjustments wherever necessary to your made map. We learned lots of facts about each country. Our next book The Water Horse is based in Scotland.

A date for your parents to put in the diary is Thursday 29th June at 3.30 when Mrs. Woodhouse and I will hold a meeting re the Tattenhall residential. We will give out itineraries, kit lists, Form C's and answer any questions you may have. If you are unable to attend please don't worry, you will get a pack of information and we can answer any queries you may have.

Next Saturday is a Clatterbridge Gala Day held at Kelsall Primary School 12-4pm. This is a charity very close to Mrs. Badger's heart and she is one of the organisers. I know some of you are playing in the football competition but everybody is welcome to come and have a look at the stalls.

Have a great Monday doing something different to sitting in school and we look forward to seeing you all on Tuesday. Don't forget your PE kit!

Love Mrs.W, Mrs.W and Miss M
