Y4 week beginning 16.11.15

Date: 14th Nov 2015 @ 12:50pm

Good morning everyone

it was lovely to meet all your parents last week and I know they were very impressed with your work and attitude. Well done to you all. We are both really enjoying having you as our class this year as you are all so enthusiastic.

Next week is busy but fun. You will get your Big Write back on Monday and then will have time to up-level it using our marking and your steps to success to help you. We will continue with Leon and the Place between on Tuesday and Wednesday looking at poetry using concrete and abstract nouns. Mr . Cole was very impressed with your Big Bad Wolf newspaper reports and he is currently getting these ready for display in our Y4 cafe area. Come and sit on our comfy chair and take time to read the reports!

Fractions will continue on Monday looking at how we can simplify them. Can you remember how to do this and what the rule is to write a fraction in its simplest form? How would you make 6/10 or 7/14 more simple? Can you simplify 4/5? Explain. Mr.Cole will also begin work on Roman numerals before starting on perimeter and area.

Towards the end of the week the whole school will study the text Tell Me A Dragon by Jackie Morris concentrating on the arts. KS2 will spend Thursday and Friday working in mixed age groups in each classroom over 4 sessions. You will have chance to write poetry and descriptions, dance, do drama, choral speaking, music, sculpture, water colour and experiment with different art techniques. Please try and bring in an old adult T-shirt or shirt to cover your uniform especially on Thursday when it is individual photographs. Write your name inside these shirts as you will be working in a number of classrooms over the days.

Individual/ family photographs will be taken on Thursday starting at 9am. If you would like your child to have an individual photograph as well as one with their siblings please sent in a note otherwise there will just be a family photograph taken.

Have a good weekend, don't forget reading, mathletics, homework and takeaway homework. Lucky you have so much to do over this wet and miserable weekend!

PS we need massive amounts of newspaper, team points for anything that comes in.

Love Mrs.W and Mrs.S X
