Y4 week beginning 13.6.16

Date: 11th Jun 2016 @ 11:46am

Hello everybody

I really hope you have all had a relaxing holiday, the weather has certainly been wonderful.

Can you believe it is the last half term of Y4 and what a busy one it will be. This week we can look forward to two exciting experiences. On Wednesday the Haberdashers will be making their annual visit to Bunbury and we will be holding a service in St. Boniface church to celebrate the work that we are doing and for the children in Y6 to receive their bibles from the Master. Y4 will be singing the song on trust and luckily for me, Mrs. Parsons has kindly offered to play the guitar.

On ThursdayY4 and their brass instruments will be making their way to the Bridgewater Hall in Manchester to play with the Halle orchestra. You are all so lucky to have this opportunity to play with a world renowned orchestra and every year I get goose pimples watching. You will need to come to school on Thursday, smartly dressed in school uniform, bring your brass instrument and a packed lunch which we will eat before we leave at 11.15 (very early lunch). Once we arrive we have some time to rehearse before the concert begins at 2pm. We should arrive back at school by 4.15pm depending on traffic. It might be a good idea to have a named plastic bottle of water and snack to have as the concert ends and before we get back on the bus to return to school.

Maths this week will focus on multiplication and division to include problem solving, I know Mr. Cole has organised some outdoor maths activities which will be really fun.

In English we will begin a new text called Kensuke's Kingdom written by Michael Morpurgo. This is a lovely story and the main character is a young boy who takes a year out of school to sail around the world on a yacht. This fits in very well on our topic of islands and I know you will all love the book. If you have a copy of this at home could you bring it into school but make sure it is named.

Our science topic is Teeth and Digestion which will begin on Friday.

Enjoy your last few days of holiday and I really look forward to seeing you all on Monday.

Love Mrs. W

PS Who as done Mr. Cole's challenge yet?
