Y4 week beginning 1.2.16

Date: 31st Jan 2016 @ 2:40pm

Hello everyone

As you are already aware we are all really proud of you, your work ethic and behaviour were impeccable last week. Well done!

Maths will see us continuing with symmetry and coordinates. Hopefully we all now know the 3 different angles,  perpendicular and parallel lines. You all wrote great definitions along with labelled diagrams. See if you can find any objects around the house that show examples of perpendicular and parallel lines, there will be team points for any.

We wrote a conversation using all the rules of speech after we had role played the scene. I know you enjoyed this activity and it made it easier to write after you had acted it out first. We will continue with the Winters Child this week before writing our own myth for our Big Write next week. What do you think will happen next? Who is the Winters Child? Where does he come from? Why is Spring not coming?

Miss Mullins and I will do the next lesson on Tudor portraits and Tudor pouches, it will be back to the first group doing the 2nd lesson of each. I know you are really enjoying both of these activities, it would be good to get them finished if we can before we break up for half term.

We will complete our work on Tudor homes and inventories before moving onto food, we will be making some lemon curd which the rich Tudors enjoyed eating, this only happened near the end of the Tudor period when Elizabeth was on the throne once sugar and lemons were more available.

At the end of the week, you will be continuing with the theme of electricity, making your own circuits. How can we ensure the bulb will light or the buzzer will ring?

You will get 2 weeks worth of mathletics certificates this week, last week the printer would not print out the certificates. Please continue to work on both mathletics and your Takeaway homework, time s running out before we share our work on the 9th of February.

I will see you all tomorrow, looking forward to it.

Love Mrs. W and Mrs. P
