Good evening Year 3,

I hope you have had a lovely weekend! I have spent today 'Geocaching'. This is a great free app that gets you to follow directions and/or a riddle to a secret location. At the location is a hidden container with a log book for you to sign and survival items. It is great fun and I highly recommend it!!

In English you will receive your Big Writes back and will do some peer writing. I was very pleased with your writing. Later in the week we will be moving onto Non-fiction writing. We will be identifying the features of information texts and focus sing on using sub-headings to organize paragraphs around a theme.

In maths we are going to be focusing on counting in multiples of 50 and 100. You will be faced with some challenges and I will be looking for good explanations of what you found out and why. It was great to see lots of you showing perseverance in the maths challenges last week - we will recap finding 100 more/less aswell.

In RE we will be continuing with the theme of Good News and using the story of the Pharisee and the Tax Collector. We will be retelling the story and hot seating the characters to help us write some prayers in role. How does this story encourage followers to live as good news? We will have some visitors in school on Thursday who will be looking at the teaching and learning of RE in school. They may want to talk to you and they will certainly be visiting our classroom and looking at our reflection and RE areas and books. You are all very thoughtful and we know you will be able to answer any questions they may ask you.

Some of you will be joining me on a choir trip on Thursday morning for the first joint session with other Nantwich schools on the Popera project. Don't forget to bring your permission slip to school if you haven't already done so.

Put the date of Thursday October 13th 4pm to 5 pm on Tarporley High Schools field in your diary as this is the first X-Counrty race for Y3 and Y4. Everyone is able to represent the school in this event and we would like to see all of you there. More details to follow.

Monday's VIP will be Noah for great writing in English and science! It is getting harder and harder to pick because you are all rising to the challenge of being in Y3 so well!

See you in the morning.
