Y3 W.B 23/11/15 - An exciting week ahead!

Good evening Year 3,

Sorry for the lateness of this blog - it would not let me onto the school website earlier this evening. I hope you all enjoyed arts week last week. It was so lovely to hear other teachers praising you for your hard work. Well done! 

This week is a busy but very exciting week. I can't wait!! 

This week is cooking week and I  have had a busy afternoon in Asda collecting all the ingredients. We will be making Little Red Riding Hood's cake. What kind of cake do you think she carried in her sturdy, wicket basket? 

This week English looks at instruction writing. We will start by following a set of instructions to make a basket just like Little Red Riding Hood's. We will identify the features of instructions, and identify imperative verbs.  

In Maths we will be continuing with our work on the expanded column method. We will be applying our knowledge of carrying 10's and 1's to try and make a target answer. Later in the week we will be looking at written methods for subtraction. 

On Thursday we will be having an art day. We will be creating big art in the style of Henri Rousseau. Please bring an art shirt into school by Thursday. We will be using inks and acrylic paints and these will not wash off your uniform. Thank you to those of you who have already done so. 

We will also be continuing with our RE work on Advent. We will be preparing to light the first candle next week.

Please don't forget to go on mathletics and continue with your Takeaway Menu homework.
