Y1 wb 7/11/16 Welcome back!

Date: 6th Nov 2016 @ 8:00pm

Hello Everyone!

I hope you all had a lovely half term. I went all the way to Northumberland and Bertie the dog loved playing fetch on the beach! On the way home we called off in the Lake District, my favourite place in England climbed Hellvelyn. The leaves were beautiful...so many different colours! It reminded me of all our wonderful adventures last half term! Well done with all the take away home work- every single one of your projects was brilliant! I have taken photographs but left on the school ipad so will upload them on Monday. I hope we are all ready for the next half term and what an exciting one it is going to be! Lots more woodland adventures and, of course, year 1 have the staring roles in the Nativity!!!! :)

Anyway, this week:

In English we are writing our recounts from our half term break. We are going to have a go a planning before we write which is exciting!  We are then going to write some bonfire night poems using our senses and travel back in time to meet with Guy Fawkes and interview him! Can you remember the year? I dont want to put the wrong date into the time machine!

In Mathematics we are going outside to do some 'woodland maths'. We will be writing numbers with sticks, making number bonds to 10 and measuring leaves.

In phonics/spelling we are carrying on with our SET 3 sounds from Read Write Inc

Topic: this week we are creating some word art pictures using TAGUL, finishing off some maps and learning about evergreen trees. NEXT WEEK: we are creating some woodland art in the school woods but your child is welcome to bring in anything they want to add to it.

Our PE days are now Monday after lunch and Wednesday first thing.

Show and Tell: THURSDAYS- children can bring in something to talk about related to our woodland topic!
