What a busy week we have had in Year 1!

In English we have been writing captions and some absolutely fantastic descriptions about dinosaurs. Now we have started to write our own non-fiction dinosaur booklets using all of the amazing facts that we have found out and will be finishing these off next week.

Everyone was wonderful at Sports Day on Tuesday! You all did so well and should be very proud of yourselves.

Then Professor David Bell, a dinosaur expert and friend of Professor Pebble, came to visit us on Thursday. We wrote fact files about dinosaurs and learnt all about how fossils were made. We even had the chance to examine some real fossils and use them to make moulds and casts.

We’ve received a letter in the post from Professor Pebble saying what a marvellous time he had at Bunbury and that he hopes to come back soon to create some fossil rubbings with us!

In History and Geography we have learnt more about the life of Mary Anning and where she lived in the UK, and in Maths we have been doing lots of problem solving about place value.

Next week will mark the end of our work on dinosaurs, but I’m so excited to embark on our new topic of Brilliant Brazil! We will be learning all about the country, the Olympics and the rainforest. Please see our topic web for more information.

Just a quick reminder that we will be visiting Chester Zoo on Tuesday 19th July, I can’t wait to see the dinosaur exhibit!

Have a fabulous weekend and enjoy Village Day if you are lucky enough to experience Bunbury On Sea!
