reception week beginning 11 9 17

Date: 10th Sep 2017 @ 4:57pm

The children have settled in so well. They have coped with school dinners and playtimes. They have all met their buddies and this should help them to settle. We try to encourage the buddies to do something with their child, perhaps read a book or work with them on the computer. At the start of school we just get to know the children and observe them playing and set routines in place. It's very important that the children understand the rules of the classroom. It is so much easier for them later on.

This week we are continuing on the Rights Respecting theme. We are hoping to become a Rights Respecting School and the children need to know about the different Rights with this in mind all the classes are creating charters.

Reception have six rights

The Right to.......

 learn

 play

 feel safe in school

 have friends

 be listened to

and be healthy.

We have been talking about needs and wants. Many of the children knew the difference between a need and a want.

Miss Brown was very busy. The children painted a sunflower using watercolours, drew a picture of themselves and completed a "Big Write." A "Big Write" is simply where the children all have a go at markmaking. It is lovely to have evidence so early as it shows the progression over the year. We have also completed some assessments.

Many thanks for your support
