Reception news week beginning 27 2 17

I hope you have all had a good half term holiday and the children are raring to go. I had a lovely time with my family and friends and "batteries are recharged." I went to Okells and bought potatoes to plant and flowers for the children to draw. Thank goodness Spring is on the way.

At the end of last half term the children completed a "Big Write" I was so pleased with their efforts. They voluntarily wrote for half an hour which is a long time for little people. This half term we start with our news and welcome Finlay Walker to our class. We will be looking at the book the "Sea of Dreams" this half term. So our topic is under the sea, Pirates and wherever else it leads us.

In number we are starting with addition and subtraction and counting backwards and forwards on a numberline. The children really enjoy board games and I try to put them in wherever possible. It is going to be a very busy term and I will be focussing on reading and writing and number as it is so short.
