Reception news week beginning 25 1 16

I hope you have all managed to look at the video sent by Captain Barbarosa. We saw it in class, the children had lots of ideas how they could help him. I can't imagine where his ship has gone! Pirate ships would be recognisable anywhere! 

We have started working with the Beebots (programable toys) and will be doing a lot more this week. Writing instructions how to move them and setting ourselves challenges. There will also be lots of counting on linked to this. The children don't realise that they are learning! Counting on is a focus for the week. We always link our counting with Numicon. It is marvellous for learning number.

Some 'Tiger Lily" costumes have come through the post and a teepee which should keep Peter Pan going. Last week we kept retelling a story that we made up about Peter Pan. On Friday the children had a go at writing it in a Big Write.They are very good the way they all settle down to it with music and biscuits! On Thursday we are having our pirate day. We will all be looking forward to it.
