Reception news week beginning 18 9 17

Date: 17th Sep 2017 @ 12:38pm

Another great week.

The children are settling in really well. They are a lovely class and always very busy. Teachers love this time of year. Autumn linked to Harvest is so special for children and adults. There is so much for young children to explore. In Reception learning can change very quickly. A friend brought in some vegetables from the fruit and vegetable show in the village, they were very large. The children looked at them and then printed with them on paper. Have a look at our photos on the blog.

Never tell a reception child to paint some vegetables.  They take the instruction literally. One can find that every vegetable is red!

This week we will still be getting to know the children, but we will  also be focussing on the story of the LIttle Red Hen. It is important for children to get to know a story really well. We will also be doing activities linked to the story. At the end of the week the children will be baking bread.

Another important focus is fine motor control. Every morning we will be doing activities to help the children's fine motor control, with the ultimate aim of holding a pen correctly. This is so important for their handwriting.

Thankyou for your support
