Year 4

Home learning Summer Term

As you will be aware, school re-opens to a small number of year groups from 1st June 2020. Unfortunately, we are not in a position to accept all children back just yet.

As a result, we have altered our approach to home learning to bring it more in line with what those will be doing in school. We hope that this will ensure those who remain at home are not missing out on the structure and learning packed into a school day as much as we possibly can. At the bottom of this webpage you will now find a weekly work plan which will be similar to what the children back in school are covering.

Until now our approach for home learning has not been about ensuring that work given will keep children in line with each other. Nor about intense coverage of the curriculum as I know that this would not have been possible due to the different situations we are all in. We have provided work so that children could keep that love of learning alive in the core areas of learning of the past 7 weeks in whatever style you as parents decided to take.

What is important is that you as parents have made your children feel safe and secure during this very uncertain time for them and whatever you have done with them will have been perfect.

Hi Year 4!

I miss your smiling faces but I have loved seeing lots of what you are getting up to at home on Padlet, Facebook, Zoom and via email.

At the bottom of this page, you will find the tab for the Year 4 weekly home learning page with the week's plan of work to complete along with any worksheets you might need.  Don't forget that you can still use Purple Mash, Mathletics, TT Rock Stars and Oxford Owl in addition to this if you would like to. I have put the links below.

I may be helping to teach some different children at the moment but please don't think I have forgotten you! I think about you all every day and can't wait to see lots more of your work.

Stay safe and keep in touch,

Miss Stuart

If you are keen to keep up our weekly times tables challenge, the printable worksheets we use can be found on the website I have also included an example of each of the stages below.

Take a look at the 'Mindfulness journal' page I have attached too - it is a great way to reflect at the end of the day. You could even turn it into a daily diary!

Lets keep our fitness up whilst we have time at home. Click on the link, watch the interactive home work out videos and give it a go. No equipment needed, so no excuses! Lets have have fun and keep fit! Test yourself if you can and try to combine more than one exercise video. Try as many as you want throughout the day or even create your own?

PE passport, a tool the school uses to plan our PE curriculum has created online content to provide fun and engaging challenges to be attempted at home and as families. They have added Dance, Yoga, Hand/Eye Coordination skills and personal challenges. The content of this will be updated daily over the coming weeks and I hope the resources available will help you stay active during the closure. The website also provides external links to other websites that might prove useful to parents and carers whilst at home. Please click on the link below to access this content.
Stay safe, stay fit and stay active!
Many thanks, Mr Dooley
