Haberdashers

The Worshipful Company of Haberdashers

The school, named after its founder, Thomas Aldersey, dates back to 1594 when it was a boys’ grammar school. It belongs to the Worshipful Company of Haberdashers, one of the twelve Great Livery Companies of London, but is now administered by the Local Education Authority. The Worshipful Company of Haberdashers takes a keen interest in the school and this interest proves beneficial in the provision of buildings and equipment. We are visited annually by a Deputation of Haberdashers. Although in the olden days this visit used to be for a formal inspection of standards, today this is a much more informal day of good fun. Year 5 and Year 6 visit the Haberdashers in London every other year. The headteacher will be pleased to supply any further details about the history of our school, we have lots!
