Year 3 W/B 21/9/15

Date: 20th Sep 2015 @ 4:14pm

Good afternoon Year 3! I hope you are all having a lovely weekend. I am sat writing this under a blanket and drinking hot chocolate - the weather is certianly getting cooler.

I hope you have enjoyed your second full week back in Year 3 and are starting to adjust to the new routines. We have made and buried a time capsule, looked at light and shadow in sketching and stole all the sounds from the school forest in order to write a poem. I am looking forward to our performance of 'The Sound Snatcher' on Monday. We have also begun our KiVa lessons and thought about what makes Bunbury School a postive place to be.

This week we will be looking at 4 digit numbers, what each digit means and comparing them using greater than and less than symbols. There will also be some problem solving activities to challenge you! Later in the week Mrs Parsons will be looking at the properties of 3D shapes with you.

'Into the Forest' by Anthony Browne will be introduced to you this week. You will write noun phrases and learn how to extend them by adding more information or description to describe the setting of this story.

In Re we will be looking at the story 'Jesus and the paralysed man'. We will also be using maps and atlas to locate forests and you will be making your own maps out of playdough. Mrs Parsons will also be continuing with your science work on plants.

Please don't forget we are holding a Macmillan Coffee and cake day on Friday 25th. Please bring in some money to buy a cake or even donate a cake you or your family have made to this very worthwhile cause. Parents, Grandparents, friends and neighbours are all very welcome to pop into school for a warm drink and a slice of cake.

Lots of you have been asking how to watch the Michael Rosen poems at home. Scroll to the bottom of this blog to watch some of his poems. To earn some team points for your team write a comment in the box below and tell me your favourite poem.

See you tomorrow
