Y6 week beg 18 1 16

Date: 17th Jan 2016 @ 6:22pm

Hello everyone

We hope you have all had a great weekend and hopefully have got out in the snow and had some fun.

You all worked really hard for us last week, so well done.

This week, in Maths, we have been continuing to review our knowledge and skills with our algorithms . Our focus has been subtraction. During our lesson we practiced this algorithm using whole and decimal numbers as well as explaining verbally the process we had been through to get to our answer. We also looked at measurement. We planned, carried out and recorded the results of an investigation, which involved finding the connection between our arm span and our height. We estimated and measured a collection of objects and converted millimetres into centimetres and centimetres into metres. Later in the week we continued to look at finding missing angles in polygons and then researched circles and how to draw them accurately.
Our English work focused on reviewing our knowledge and application of word classes within our own and others writing. We looked specifically at prepositions and prepositional phrases before writing our own using The Man Who Walked Between The 2 Towers as inspiration. We also continued with our 'King Kong' work and developed our use of extended noun phrases, synonyms and then ended the week with a poetry Big Write!

Remember to have your PE kit in all week as you never know when you might need it.

Takeaway homework should be well up and running now. You can find the file attached on the class page if you have lost your paper copy. Also remember that you have Mathletics to do plus the measurement sheet that Mrs Spencer sent to you last week. It is a busy, busy time, but your hard work will pay off.

Have a good start to the week and I will see you on Wednesday.

Love

Mrs C, Mrs B and Mrs S
