Y4week beginning 9.5.16

Date: 8th May 2016 @ 9:30am

What an absolutely fantastic weekend, we hope you have all managed to spend a lot of time outside.

First of all congratulations must go to the 9 children who played in the Hockey tournament on Thursday, Phoebe,  Rebecca, Maisie, Amy, Douglas, James, Oliver, Noah and Daniel H who played brilliantly as a team and came 3rd in their section of the competition and also to Maisie, Amy and Hannah who played in the girls football team along with Elizabeth and Isla from Y5 in  a competition at Kelsall Primary School as part of a Charity event for Clatterbridge Hospital. They were eventual silver medal winners.

This week we will be continuing with decimals and fractions and problem solving in our maths lessons.

One Boys War is the text we are using for our English lessons. Last week you wrote some beautiful, emotive extended noun phrases after we turned our classroom into WW1 trenches. These will be used later on in the term for poetry.

In art we will be looking at horses that were used in WW1 using War Horse by Michael Morpurgo as a stimulus. Paul Nash is another WW1 whose art work we will look at.

It is a very important week for Y6 this week and we can do our bit by being very quiet when we walk along the corridors. The SATS take place in the hall and in the Y6 classroom during the mornings.so PE will definitely be outside. Please ensure you have your kit and something warm to put on top of your kit.

if this beautiful weather continues please make sure you have a hat, suncream on and plenty of water to drink.

See you tomorrow.

Love Mrs. W, Mrs. P and Mr. C
