Y4 week beginning 5.1.16

Date: 29th Dec 2015 @ 2:33pm

Happy New Year, we hope you all had a wonderful Christmas with your families. Please can Mrs. Sissons and I say a huge thank you for all our presents and cards. We really appreciate your kind words and gifts.

It will be lovely to see you all on TUESDAY 5th January, we will be spending the day looking at the Unicef Childrens Rights, in particular Article 23 where it states all children should have special care and support if they need it. The poster shows a happy young girl in a wheelchair saying "Don't leave me out." We will start the day with a P4C which I know you are all brilliant at. Questions will be posed and then we will vote on one to discuss as a class. The rest of the day will be spent looking at the works of artist Keith Haring before painting our own works of art using the theme of disability. Do you know anybody who has not allowed a disability to stop them from doing what they want to do eg a sports person, actor, politician etc?

We will begin two new texts "Winter's Child" by Angela McAllister and "The Ice Palace" by Robert Swindells. What do you think these two books may have  in common? We will be refreshing our knowledge on noun phrases, fronted adverbials and scene setting in our first week. I know you will thoroughly enjoy both stories and they will help you to write your own fable at the end of this half term.

Maths this week will concentrate on multiplication and division using written methods, can you remember the grid method?

Mrs. Parsons will be teaching you this week on Thursday and Friday, I know she can't wait to get to know you all much better. We also have a new student joining us for this term, Miss Leah Mullins.

Enjoy your last few days of the holiday, get lots of rest, you are going to need all your energy for this next term!!!

See you soon
