Y4 week beginning 3.10.16

Date: 2nd Oct 2016 @ 11:02am

Hello everyone

Our visitor who came last Thursday was very impressed with you all as are we. Well done. Her official report will be available for you and your parents to read very soon.

You will be very pleased to hear we will be reading the next few pages of Leon tomorrow looking at the effects the author is trying to create and how he does this. We will then have a go using an image from the book using the same effects that Graham Baker Smith does. On Tuesday we will look at a short clip of Oz The Great and Powerful and use this to write paragraphs in small groups. Has anybody got this DVD at home that I could borrow? I would be very grateful.

During maths we will look at rounding numbers to the nearest 10, 100 and 1000. Listen to a statement I heard recently Harry said" 747 rounded to the nearest 10 is 740." Do you agree with Harry? Explain when? We will then look at Roman numerals before moving onto addition and subtraction.

On Friday 7th October is our harvest festival in church at 10 am. All your parents are warmly invited to join us. All donations this year will go to the West Cheshire Food Bank. Each class (with the exception of Reception) will be linking their class Christian value to harvest. During our RE lesson this week we will decide what we want to show as a class to the rest of the school and community as to what Trust means to us and how we feel this links to harvest. There will be a short rehearsal in the school hall on Wednesday.

You all loved your science lesson this week using tea lights to see what happens to some solids when heat is applied. What did you find out, are all changes permanents? This lesson will continue this week.

Dont forget to bring in this weeks homework by Tuesday, we were thrilled to see the planning of your takeaway homework and are looking forward to the final pieces of work on the 26th October which must be beautifully presented.

We hope you are all enjoying the autumnal weather today and look forward to seeing you tomorrow.

Love
