Y4 week beginning 25.4.16

Date: 24th Apr 2016 @ 11:37am

What a wonderful weekend with such glorious weather, it makes all the difference. I have looked at the blog for the party that you all attended on Friday to help celebrate the Queen's 90th birthday. You all looked like you were having a fantastic time and the outfits and hats were brilliant. It will be one of many lovely memories of your time at Bunbury School.

I am off to Ironbridge on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday and Mrs. Parsons will be teaching those 3 days. We are coming to the end of The Water Horse and you will end this unit of work by writing your own legend of a mythical sea creature. On Tuesday there will be a Big Write on describing a mythical sea creature (maybe the one you drew and painted) using figurative language to help describe it eg a tail like a mermaid. We need to paint a picture of our creature on what it looks like, moves like and sounds like. We will spend some time on Monday planning for this ensuring we know what our piece of writing needs to contain.

In maths our 2 topics are negative numbers and equivalent fractions and decimals. These are 2 of our targets, so work hard and you may be able to tick of one of these or both on your target cards. Mr. Cole will resume 2 part maths problems next week as he is at a secondary school all of this week.

Our spelling pattern for this week are the suffix "tion" and "cian". Both of these sound like shun and tion is much more common than cian. If you hear shun at the end of a word it is more likely to be tion eg action, direction. There are some rules to remember for these and we will learn them in class and put them up on our spelling wall.

On Thursday it is the turn of Y3 and Y4 to do their final X-Country event of this year. This will be held as always at Tarporley High School 4pm-5pm. This is a great opportunity for you ALL to attend a competition where you are representing the school and it would be lovely to see you all there. As I am away on a residential with Y5, Miss Cork and Mrs. Moxley will accompany you. Meet them at the back of the school by 4pm please. It can be quite muddy so let your parents know to wear old shoes or wellingtons. I look forward to reading the blog on Thursday night to see how many of you attended and whether we win any medals!

There will be a brass lesson on Friday so please bring in your instruments. Mrs Parsons will be teaching your next lesson on Baptism and Sound and Hearing.

Have a great Sunday and we will look forward to seeing you tomorrow.

Love Mrs. W and Mrs. P
