Y4 week beginning 13.2.17

Date: 12th Feb 2017 @ 9:53am

Good morning everyone,

i believe you all had a fantastic time at Young Voices in Manchester and represented the school in an outstanding manner. Well done. Mrs. Woodhouse has written more about this which I will paste below.

This is the last week before we break up for half term, half way through the year already. Time flies when you are having fun! It is assessment week and we will be doing a Big Write, maths assessment and a reading comprehension. As always please don't worry about these it is just helpful for us to see what you have mastered and what areas of the curriculum need to be revisited.

Winter's Child will be completed so we can start a whole school text after the holiday called Sea of Dreams. This is a book without words and with the most beautiful illustrations. If you have any beachy bits and pieces we could use for display, please bring them in. We will be very careful. I am trying to get hold of a wooden dinghy, if anyone can get their hands on one, I would be very grateful.

Tenths and hundredths will be completed this week in maths and completing sequences going up and down in steps. Using a Place Value sheet we will see that a tenth is created by dividing a whole number by 10 and a hundredth by dividing a tenth by 10 or a whole number by 100.

It is the Valentines Disco on Thursday, KS1 starting at 5.30 and KS2 starting an hour later. We look forward to seeing you bop to the tunes you selected.

Unfortunately the Y3/Y4 Indoor athletics due to take place on Friday morning has been postponed until the 10th March. More details to follow.

Here are Mrs. Woodhouse's notes..... Last Thursday we enjoyed a once in a lifetime experience of Young Voices. We sang and danced with a total of 8236 children and I couldn’t believe how much energy the children had! The children loved seeing the lights, sound systems and a live band at the MEN arena. The beat boxers, professional singers and street dancers completely wowed and inspired the children. Lots of children told us on the coach that it had been the best night of their lives.  Everybody behaved impeccably and we were exceptionally proud of every single child. I hope the children have a lifelong memory from the event and continue to shine! They did a brilliant job of coming into school on Friday and continuing to work very hard, despite their late night! Well done Year 4, we couldn’t be prouder of you all.

Dont forget we are sharing Takeaway homework on Wednesday morning so have your beautifully presented work ready. We look forward to seeing it all.

Have a good Sunday, see you bright and early tomorrow for a fun packed day.

Love Mrs. W, Mrs. W and Mrs. C
