Happy new year!! I hope you all had a lovely Christmas with your families. I had a lovely time back home in Liverpool and enjoyed our traditional Christmas Day curry! I would like to say a huge thank you for all your cards and gifts. It was very thoughtful of you all and I really appreciate your kind words.

I am looking forward to seeing you all on Tuesday. We will be spending the day looking at the UNICEF Rights of Child. We will be focusing on article 24 'all children have a right to good health and good quality health care.' We will start the day with a P4C style lesson in which questions will be posed and we vote on one to discuss as a class. The rest of the day will be spent doing some art work in response to our thoughts from the P4C lesson (sketching and collage)!

In English we will be starting a new book called 'Sir Charlie Stinky Socks and the Tale of The Terrible Secret' by Kristina Stephenson. This is a really magical book that I know you will love! We will start by refreshing our knowledge of WOW sentence openers before looking at using prepositions in our writing.

In Maths we will be looking at formal written methods for subtraction. We will be using Numicon to help us get started.

We will also be starting our new science topic on Light and Shadows. If you have a torch or night light please bring it into school on Friday. Please only bring one in if you are happy for it to be used in our science lesson.

On the Year 3 page is the takeaway homework menu for this half term. You will be given a paper copy this week aswell.

I think that is all for now...! See you on TUESDAY! Don't forget your PE kits - you will have it first lesson as usual.

Enjoy the last few days of the holidays and get some rest so you are ready for a busy term ahead!

Miss Cork :)
