Road safety day!

Date: 8th Oct 2015 @ 2:13pm

On Thursday, Years 1-6 had a visit from the award winning national road safety programme. Two lorry drivers from Gist, Bob and John, came to teach the children how to stay safe around traffic, especially lorries. On a daily basis we have lorries delivering to the local businesses in Bunbury. The drivers showed a really fun and informative powerpoint about the lorries they drive and how we can stay safe around them!

After that the children had the opportunity to sit in the 'tractor' and see all the lorry's blind spots. Buses, vans and lorry drivers cannot see all around their vehicles and it's important for the children to know this when walking or cycling. They also learnt about stopping distances.

The children, and the teachers, really enjoyed the day especially sitting in the drivers seat! The Gist drivers said the children were fantastic all day and it was a pleasure visiting such a wonderful school!
