Reception week beginning 19 10 15

The children did so well last week. They have really settled down into the routine of school and are coping much better with the school day. This week we will be reading the text "Pumpkin Soup." I have two pumpkins one that we are going to cut open and take out the seeds, the other we are going to use to create some wonderful art, with collage and paint. The painting will be an independent activity, it will be interesting to see how we get on.

As ever we will be focussing on phonics and number, using the Numicon that I showed at the parent meeting.

We will be making houses and hats for the bears and thinking about our topic after half term. The children have been interested in rockets and aliens talking about it in their play so we will start planning it with them this week. The small roleplay table will be changed to day and night animals. Next half term we will probably make a dark cave so that we can use torches.

I will be sending home reading books and sounds at the end of the week.
