Reception News week beginning 11 1 16

Mrs Lawford and I were so proud of Reception last week. They did brilliantly we managed to hear everyone read, everyone had number, we had an art day and on Friday we had a "Big Write." All in four days!

A Big Write is when everyone in the class writes at the same time. We play soothing music and eat a biscuit as they are writing. There is not a child in Reception who is not happy to put pen to paper. No one said they couldn't do it. I was so....... pleased with them. It is much easier if they are writing about something that they know a lot about. We asked them to markmake about anything that they were given for Christmas. A certain little person had been telling me before Christmas that he wanted a Harry Potter wand. When I asked him about his writing last week I said "Whats that". (It was a short line). In a very serious voice he said, "That's my Harry Potter wand."

The Children's right that Reception looked at was that "Every child has a right to play." I think they enjoyed it. They will learn more about children's rights in roundabout assemblies

I think you have all realised that we are looking at Pirates. I don't want to say too much as we are trying to teach it creatively. I would be interested if you can give me some feed back on the blog. Peter Pan is in the mix too!

This week week our writing and number will be totally linked to pirates. Perhaps there will be a message in a bottle!

Stay and Play starts again on Wednesday. In the afternoon from 2.00 to 3.00 pm I will be welcoming any prospective new children. Your children will be having P.E.
