Reception blog week beginning 16 11 15

I am so sorry. I did do a blog last week and obviously did not save it properly. It has to be saved twice.

This week is going to be busy. We are still focussing on space, aliens etc, but this week we are also having two art days, based on a book about dragons. The children will be mixed up with YR 1 and 2 and then rotate around the activities in the different classrooms. John's PE will be about dragons too! I had a lovely time buying fabrics on Saturday morning. Abekan had lots of lovely colours and it inspired me.

If the children could bring in an old art shirt that would help to protect their clothes that would be great.

For writing activities we are designing aliens and moon buggies drawing a picture and then writing words or a sentence. The children loved finding green slime and a space suit last week in the school woods.

We are also focussing on the shoe shop drawing around our feet and then measuring with multink or lego bricks. the children can then write and add numbers.

I am really sorry but Stay and Play will have to be on Thursday from 9.00 to 9.30  this week due to our art day.

We have also started formal reading . The children seem to enjoy it. We are focussing on pointing at the words and talking about the story. My next target is handwriting. I have sleepless nights wondering how I am going to do it all.

If anyone would like to help with reading that would be lovely. I know Mrs Duckett has offered. Even if you are CRB checked for playgroup you have to do a seperate one for school.

With the events of the weekend that have coloured everything we have to be so grateful don't we?
