An unexpected day in Year 3!

Date: 7th Jan 2016 @ 12:54pm

This morning we started our new science topic on light. We talked about what might happen if we planted some seeds in the quiet area. With it being January and there being less sunlight we wanted to find out what would happen. So we went outside and started to plant lettuce seeds.

Suddenly Alex and Ben found an old leather pouch. We opened it to discover an old map and a riddle. Whilst this was being discovered Francesca found a rusty old key in a different plant bed!

We came back into the classroom to try and find out where the map was for, to solve the riddle and think what the key was for. We had lots to think about and lots of interesting discussions! We decided to go on google maps to look for the River Gowy. Looking at google maps we think our map is a map to Beeston Castle! This was confirmed when we finally solved the riddle.

Part of the riddle said "crafted with stones piled high". We found a picture of Beeston on Wikipedia to check it was made out of stone. Mrs Walker then spotted a caption under the picture that said "it is rumoured that treasure belonging to Richard ll lies undiscovered in the castle grounds." Quickly we began thinking that we have found the key to the treasure!!!!! Next we mapped out rooms of a castle to try and think where Richard might of put the treasure!

We have decided to write a newspaper report to inform all residents of Bunbury.

A very exciting day! We have a lot of work to do. Could we be the ones to finally solve this mystery?
